A BrightLocal alternative for checking your AI visibility
BrightLocal is a local SEO platform for rank tracking, citations, Google Business Profile audits and reviews. On 10 September 2026 it added Local AI Visibility to every plan: up to 20 prompts per location, tracked twice a month on ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews. For one location, the Track plan costs $41 a month or $369 billed yearly, as listed on 2 October 2026.
As a BrightLocal alternative for the AI side, Peekl does one job. It checks whether ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude recommend your business, asking fifteen customer questions three times each, and ranks up to 12 fixes, for $99 once. It does not manage listings, track map rankings or collect reviews.
If you searched for a BrightLocal alternative to replace its listings or rank tracking, this page is not that comparison: it covers the AI side only. And here the choice is less either-or than it looks. If you need a local SEO platform, BrightLocal is a strong one and now includes AI tracking. If you only want to know where you stand with AI and what to change, Peekl is the smaller tool.

You want a local SEO platform for rankings, listings and reviews, and an AI tracker for ChatGPT and Google's AI results included in the same plan.
You mainly want to know whether ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude recommend your business and what to fix first, without signing up for a local SEO platform.
BrightLocal's AI visibility tracker: what Local AI Visibility covers
Local AI Visibility tracks each location separately. You set up to 20 prompts, with suggestions offered when you set it up, and BrightLocal runs them twice a month on ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews. It reports when you are mentioned, your share of voice, which competitors appear for the same prompts, and the local sources the answers drew on, such as directories, local publications and regional sites. A companion feature, AI Insights, turns the results into recommended actions. We read BrightLocal's pricing page and launch post on 2 October 2026; we have not run its tracker on a business ourselves.
It is included at no extra cost on all three plans, so if you already pay for BrightLocal, it is worth switching on before you buy anything else. Our guide to how your Google Business Profile affects each AI assistant explains why a platform that also manages your profile and listings is well placed for this work.
A local SEO platform, or an AI audit?
BrightLocal's plans are built around local SEO. Track covers local rank tracking for up to 100 keywords, citation tracking and a Google Business Profile audit. Manage, at $54 a month or $485 a year for one location, adds listings sync across key sites and profile post scheduling. Grow, at $65 a month or $584 a year, adds review monitoring, requests and a website widget. The AI tracker comes with all of them.
Peekl is not a substitute for any of that. It is a single, focused reading of the AI side: fifteen questions written for your trade and town, asked three times on each of three assistants, with every competitor named instead of you and every website behind the answers, then a ranked plan in which each fix names the competitor to beat. If you have no local SEO platform today and AI answers are your main worry, that is the job to start with. If you already have one, the two can sit side by side.
The Gemini app and Claude gap
BrightLocal's tracker covers ChatGPT and Google's search surfaces, AI Mode and AI Overviews. It does not list the Gemini app or Claude, which customers also ask for recommendations. Peekl works the other way round: Gemini and Claude are in its audit with ChatGPT, and the free check runs on ChatGPT or Gemini, but AI Mode and AI Overviews are not. The two tools see different halves of Google's AI.
If your customers search on Google, BrightLocal sees answers Peekl does not. If they open the Gemini app or Claude and ask directly, Peekl sees answers BrightLocal does not. The Gemini visibility checker and the Claude visibility checker show what each assistant reads before it names a business.
What a year costs for one location
BrightLocal's list prices on 2 October 2026 put Track for one location at $369 billed yearly, or $492 over a year billed monthly at $41. That price includes its local SEO tools, not only the AI tracker. Add Peekl's optional $39 monthly tracking to the $99 audit and its first year is $567, more than BrightLocal Track at $369. BrightLocal offers a 14-day trial with no card, so you can test the tracker before paying.
If you will use rank tracking, citations and reviews as well, BrightLocal's plan is good value for what it bundles. If AI answers are the only thing you want measured, a one-time audit costs less up front and asks each question three times, while BrightLocal keeps re-checking twice a month. What to look for in a BrightLocal alternative for AI visibility
Most people searching for a BrightLocal alternative want another local SEO platform, and for that the comparison is about listings, rank tracking and reviews, not AI. This page covers the narrower case: you want the AI side measured, and you are deciding whether BrightLocal's new tracker is the right way to do it.
For that, check which assistants are covered, how many questions are asked and how often, whether each recommendation is traced to the website behind it, and whether the result is a plan you can work through yourself. How AI recommends local businesses explains what the assistants weigh, so you can judge any tool's output, and our AI visibility tools comparison puts the trackers side by side.
