Trackers do not open the Gemini app. They call one of Google's Gemini models through an API, usually with Google Search grounding switched on so the answer can cite the web and return the searches it ran. Google offers several models at different prices, and they differ in how much they search before answering and in what they return, so a tracker built on one model can show a different picture from one built on another, and from what a customer sees in the app. That makes the model, and whether grounding is on, a fair question to put to any vendor.

What to look for in a Gemini rank tracker

• Which model, and is Google Search grounding on? Without grounding, Gemini answers from memory and cannot cite the pages you could fix.
• How many runs per question? Gemini's answer to the same question changes from one run to the next, so a single daily pass is a weak reading.
