A Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit alternative for local business owners
If you run one location, a Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit alternative should answer two questions: does AI recommend your business, and what should you fix first. The toolkit is a strong product for marketers who already work in Semrush. As listed on 2 October 2026, it costs $99 a month per domain and tracks prompts daily across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI Mode and AI Overviews.
Peekl answers the same questions as a one-time audit. Its $99 audit asks ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude fifteen questions your customers would type, three times each, and returns up to 12 ranked fixes. It does not check Perplexity or Google's AI Mode and AI Overviews, which Semrush does, and it is a snapshot rather than daily monitoring: monthly re-checks are an optional $39 add-on.
Both are fair choices. The right one depends on whether someone will work in an SEO suite every week, or whether you want an answer and a to-do list now.

You already work in Semrush, track a brand across many topics, and want Google's AI Mode and AI Overviews in the same daily dashboard.
You run one location, want ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude checked with the questions your customers ask, and want a ranked plan without a per-domain monthly plan.
What the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit does
The toolkit is Semrush's AI search product. Its knowledge base lists an AI Visibility Score benchmarked against competitors, share of voice, brand sentiment and prompt research to find the topics people ask about. It adds a site audit that checks whether AI crawlers can read your pages, and daily tracking of the prompts you choose. The base plan covers one domain and 25 tracked prompts. Extra prompts cost $60 a month per 50, and each extra domain is another $99 a month.
It is sold on its own or inside Semrush's combined SEO and AI plans, which cost more and add the classic SEO toolset. Either way it is built for someone who measures a brand across many topics, which is what an in-house marketer or an agency does every day. Inside another suite, the closest equivalent is Ahrefs Brand Radar.
Prompts you write, or the questions your customers ask?
A local business wins or loses at one moment. A customer asks an assistant for a dentist, a plumber or a salon nearby, and the answer names two or three businesses. To measure that in a prompt tracker, you write the prompts, pick the competitors and read the score each day. That works for a marketer who already knows which questions matter. Most owners would rather not build a prompt list before they get an answer.
Peekl starts from your business name and city. It writes fifteen questions the way your customers ask them, asks each one three times on each assistant because answers change from run to run, and records every business named instead of you and every website the answers relied on. You get a list of fixes in order, not a score to watch, and each fix names the competitor to beat and the question you are losing. What an AI visibility audit includes explains the method in full.
Twelve months of cost, side by side
On list prices read on 2 October 2026, a year of the Semrush toolkit for one domain costs $1,188, at $99 a month. Peekl's audit is $99 once. If you add Peekl's optional monthly tracking at $39 a month after the audit, the first year comes to $567. Semrush's pricing page has the current plans and bundles.
Price is only half of it. If someone on your team will open the dashboard every week and act on it, a daily tracker earns its cost. If it would sit unopened, paying once for an answer and a plan is the smaller commitment. To compare every tool's price, see what AI visibility tools cost.

Which assistants each one checks
Semrush covers more of Google: AI Mode and AI Overviews, alongside ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. Claude was not on its list of platforms when we checked. Peekl's audit covers ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, and the free check runs on ChatGPT or Gemini, your pick. Peekl does not check Perplexity, AI Mode or AI Overviews.
So the choice turns partly on where your customers ask. If Google's AI answers are the surface you care about most, that is a point for Semrush, and the best Google AI Mode trackers lists other tools that cover it. If your customers also use Claude, or you want every question asked more than once, that is a point for Peekl. The Claude visibility checker shows what that part of the audit reports.
What to look for in a Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit alternative
Choosing a Semrush AI toolkit alternative usually comes down to one of two things: you do not use the rest of Semrush, or you want a different output than a score. Decide which first. If it is the suite, a standalone tracker such as Otterly, from $29 a month, or Rankscale, from $20, keeps daily tracking at a lower entry price. If it is the output, look for a tool that ends in fixes rather than charts.
Then check four things: whether it covers the assistants your customers use, Claude included; whether each question is asked more than once; whether every recommendation is traced to the website behind it; and whether the price suits one location. Our AI visibility tools comparison lays the options out side by side.
