What you get

What the free AI visibility check shows

Not a score out of a hundred. A plain readout of what an assistant actually says about your trade in your town, with the names and the websites behind them.

Whether AI names you

How many of the customer questions produced an answer that included your business, and how many did not.

Who gets named instead

The businesses the assistant reaches for when it answers those questions. The first two competitors are shown free.

Where the answers come from

The directories, review sites and guides the assistant cited. The first few sources are free, the full list is in the audit.

Your first fix

A preview of the ranked plan: the highest-priority change, and what it would take to make it.

How it works

How the free AI visibility check works

You type two things. The check does the rest and reads the result back in plain English.

1

Tell us who you are

Your business name and your city. No account access, nothing to install, no keyword list to write.

2

We ask what your customers ask

Twelve questions a real customer would type, worded for your trade and your town, from “best near me” to a specific need.

3

We read the answers, not just count them

For every answer we note whether you were named, who was named instead, and which websites the assistant leaned on.

4

You get the readout

A plain result page: named or not, the first competitors, the first sources, and the top fix. Free.

The basics

What is an AI visibility checker?

Last reviewed: September 7, 2026

An AI visibility checker tests whether AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude mention or recommend a business when people ask them for one. It puts real customer questions to the assistant and records which businesses each answer names and which websites it cites. Then it reports how often you appear compared with the businesses named instead.

For a local business the stakes are specific. An assistant does not show ten results and a map. It names two or three businesses and stops, so being absent from that short list means the customer never sees you. And the habit is growing: more customers now start with an assistant instead of a search box, and we track how many people already use AI to find local businesses.

In our own study of 648 AI answers about local trades, the recommendations were built from directories, booking platforms and review sites. A business’s own website was rarely the source. That is also why a one-off screenshot is a poor test: for the same question in the same city, ChatGPT and Gemini named at least one business in common only 46% of the time, and each rebuilds its answer on every run. A checker that asks several questions and counts the pattern gives you a measurement. A single chat gives you an anecdote.

What the free check covers, and what the full audit adds

The free check is a real measurement, kept small on purpose. It runs your twelve questions once, on one assistant, so you get an honest first read in minutes. The full audit is the same method at full size.

What to do with your result

The free check ends in one of three places. Each one has a different next step.

Named in most answers

You are on the assistant’s short list. Protect it: keep reviews recent, keep your details identical on every site, and re-check in a few months because answers drift.

Named in some answers

The assistant knows you but reaches for others first. The full audit shows what the businesses ahead of you have that you do not, source by source, and ranks the fixes.

Never named

The assistant cannot find enough about you where it reads. Start with the sources it cited for your trade and town, then your Google profile, then pages that answer customer questions plainly.

Who it is for

Built for the owner, not the marketing team

This checker is for a single-location business: a physio, a dentist, a plumber, a salon, a café, a clinic. You want to know whether AI sends customers your way and what to do if it does not. If you manage several brands and want a running multi-engine dashboard, the dedicated trackers will serve you better, and we compare them honestly.

It also fits agencies and web professionals who look after local clients. Run the check on a client, show them who AI names instead, and sell the fixes as a project. See the partner programme.

Real answers, not estimates
Every result comes from questions actually put to an assistant, recorded and counted. Nothing is modelled or extrapolated.
Traceable numbers
Named or not, who was named, which site was cited: each line of the result points to the answer it came from.
Nothing sold on a promise
We do not guarantee a position, because no honest tool can. We show the gap and the work that closes it.
Priced for one location
Free to start, then a one-time audit. No seat licences, no monthly dashboard you have to learn.

Free AI visibility checker: questions

Is the AI visibility checker really free?
Yes. The free check runs twelve customer questions and shows you the result. There is no card and no subscription. If you want the full picture across three assistants, the full audit is a one-time payment.
Does it check ChatGPT, or only one assistant?
The free check runs on Gemini, which also powers Google’s AI Mode. The full audit runs the same questions on ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, three times each, because the assistants often disagree about who to recommend. How much the assistants disagree
Why do I get different answers when I ask ChatGPT myself?
Because assistants rebuild their answer every time. That is why a single screenshot tells you little, and why the check counts how often you appear across several questions instead of trusting one answer.
How is this different from an AI rank tracker?
A tracker is a subscription dashboard built for marketing teams, with a score that moves over time. The free checker gives an owner a plain answer now, and the audit turns it into a ranked list of fixes. If you want ongoing tracking, Peekl offers it as an option after the audit. Peekl vs a tracker
Can I check a competitor instead of my own business?
You can run the check on any business name and city. Most owners run it on themselves first, then on the competitor AI keeps naming, to see what that business has that they do not.
What do I need to run it?
Your business name and your city. The check finds your public presence itself. You do not need to give access to anything or install anything.
Will the checker make AI recommend me?
No tool can. What it does is show you where you stand and what the recommended businesses have that you do not. The work that moves the result is listings, reviews and clear pages, and we never promise a number one spot. How to improve your AI visibility
Can I check by hand instead?
Yes, and we explain how. Ask each assistant the questions your customers ask, several times, and note who gets named. It takes an afternoon to do properly, which is what the checker saves you. How to check by hand
