Does ChatGPT recommend physiotherapists?
When patients ask ChatGPT to recommend a physiotherapist, it names specific businesses. We asked the questions patients really use, city by city, and recorded which physiotherapists it names and where it gets its answers. Each city below has its own page with the full list, and the AI visibility directory covers every trade and city we scan.

Across 6 cities and 84 answers, the assistants named 260 different physiotherapists, counted city by city, about 3.1 names per answer. That makes this a fragmented market: on average the most-named business appears in only 33% of a city's answers, so no single name dominates and the short list changes from question to question. The spread between cities is wide: in Miami the leader was named in 50% of answers, in Los Angeles in 21%. A fragmented market is the easiest to enter and the hardest to hold: with no fixed leader, whichever physiotherapists are best represented on the sources below get named that week.
ChatGPT and Gemini agreed on at least one physiotherapist in 4 of 6 cities and handed out entirely different names in the other 2. For physiotherapists the assistants leaned first on individual business websites and then booking platforms and marketplaces, with zocdoc.com and onebodyldn.com cited most. One business site, onebodyldn.com, was cited 7 times on its own, the kind of exception that happens when a chain has many locations or a page answers one question very well. Before spending anything else, a physiotherapist who wants to be named should be complete and consistent on those two.
For physiotherapists the answers run through booking and listing platforms first, then hospital and health-system pages, and only then individual practices. That mirrors how patients actually book: they look for an appointment, not a brochure. A physio who is bookable on the platform the assistants cite, with a specialism stated in plain words, tends to be named ahead of a better-reviewed practice that is not.

How physiotherapists get recommended by AI
AI assistants recommend the physiotherapists they can find and trust. For physiotherapists that means being listed and well reviewed on zocdoc.com and onebodyldn.com before anything else, and having pages that state plainly what you do and who you help. A physiotherapist an assistant cannot find is one it cannot name (why your business might be invisible to AI); one it finds but ranks behind others is a different problem, covered in why AI recommends your competitors instead of you. For the owner's side of this trade, read AI search for physiotherapists. Close trades have their own guides: AI search for chiropractors.
